it's cold outside

It's all about us basically. Behind the scenes, the highs the lows, the average week, the fun and the games of our little agency, E3.

It's all starting to look like a studio.  At last.  We plan to unpack the rest of the boxes and load all our lovely new white cupboards with piles of papers, job bags and all the important stuff we couldn't really throw out.The rest of the furniture and seating has arrived too, the Dali lips, swan chairs and our rather daft ball and egg chairs for our new brainstorm room.  ...read full story

We knew this Bank holiday was pretty much going to be a write off.  The whole idea of moving over the long weekend, was to ensure that down time was kept to an absolute minimum for clients, servers and work.  So it's Monday and tomorrow morning we need everything set up, working and all running to enable us to stand any chance of being able to hit the ground running.  Looking at how things are now, that might be easier said than done.  There still loa ...read full story

10 weeks ago we decided to get a bespoke reception desk designed for the front of the studio.  We spent weeks thinking about materials, lights, colours and how it would fit into the overall vision of the white, clean and fresh environment we wanted to create in the studio and communal areas. We came up with a few scribbles and drawings of what we wanted it to look like (after falling in love with a similar desk in the reception of the 2012 Olympic offices in Canary Wharf a few years bac ...read full story

So today is our last day in the Tobacco factory.  We'll be spending it  packing boxes and clearing away 7 years of Tobacco Factory life.  We've hired 3 skips, 170 green boxes and we have an army of people ready to get stuck in.In all the 'Paintworks excitement' we haven't really stopped to think about the fact that this is actually the end of an era.  We've been at the Tobacco Factory for 7 years and today we'll finally say goodbye.  It's been a great ...read full story

Like there's ever going to be a good time to close down the business and move 2 companies (74 people) across to the otherside of town and still, as much as you can, keep things running and ticking over. But to really make things that little more interesting we've just had 3 great opportunities hit the mat, which will now throw all our plans out of the window. A massive pitch for an automotive brand and 2 potential projects for the V&A.We all really want to go for the 3 (gr ...read full story

We've just launched this years Orange Travel campaign. The concept was 'far but never distant'.  So we got the guys together and came up with developing ideas around the keepsakes that people take on holiday with them to bring them closer to home whilst they are away. Like it.  Orange loved it, so they told us to crack on.  Was a great little project, we had a lot of fun producing the charming and quintessentially European illustrations which, Orange said& ...read full story

A few months back we were invited to pitch to a new contact at Kia for the development of the accessories section of their web site, which we won.We got the creatives together with some of the technical team and produced a selection of creative routes to show Kia.  We went armed with concepts ranging from the more standard and simple 'sub section' route right up to a rather brave 'all flash' route, which they went for!So we ended developing a rather sexy f ...read full story

It's only 4 weeks away until we move E3 and Wildfire across to the Paintworks.  We checked out progress today and there's still lots to do.  The builders are confident it will all come together, but we're not holding our breath.  The challenge is that we need to be out of the Tobacco Factory by Friday 30th May.  The network is coming down, phonelines transferred across, removal men standing by and Aardman Animations (who are taking our old space) are actually moving into the ...read full story
